"I realised I was no longer relevant in a industry that I had been involved in for so long, it was time to up-skill so I could be at the forefront again."
Last September I walked out of my job, I wasn't being treated well and basically it was starting to get to me and mess with my confidence. In hindsight I probably should have waited until I had found another job before quitting, but hey, I had always gotten a job easily and never had any trouble finding the work so why should this time be any different.
It was though. A whole lot of different. Even though I had 28 years working in the media industry, the landscape had changed. Digital played a big part in pretty much every role I was looking at, and whilst I had done a little bit on it, it certainly wasn't an area I was skilled in.
Unfortunately I was missing out on roles that I would have been perfect for simply because I didn't have the digital experience required in this day and age. So I thought it was time to up-skill. I enjoyed studying and learnt quickly so figured it shouldn't be too hard to find something to satisfy the needs of a new employee whilst giving my resume that little boost.
